A couple years ago, my son gave us (5)  “Eufy” security cameras for Christmas. We contacted an electrician to install them around our home. Bestbuy sells them if we decide to buy more. I have an app on my cell phone so I can view and get notifications from the security cameras.

A couple weeks ago, we discovered a water leak (sprinkler valves) and we fixed it. Or I hoped we did.

Back to the “Eufy” security cameras, they are wireless, and we pay no monthly service fees. Besides being security cameras, they have “amazing audio” features.

This past Christmas, we were spending Christmas day with my wife’s family in Mexico. I was getting notifications when someone was near our home. From one of my cameras near the front of our home, I could hear a dog barking (our dogs were with us) and I could hear “running water.” The sound of running water was very clear. I almost had a “melt-down.” My worst fear, we did not fix the water leak!”

We came home the next afternoon, and immediately I checked if the sprinkler valves were leaking again, they were not leaking. The neighbors told me it rained in our neighborhood on Christmas day. I was very happy the “running water” sound was rain, not a water leak.

We moved into the Oak Hollow Park neighborhood in 2005, the week after Hurricane “Katrina” passed through Texas.

Katrina caused devastation throughout several states and parts of Texas, but none in San Antonio.

It seems like there is a protective “bubble” over San Antonio, especially in northeast San Antonio, where Oak Hollow Park is located.

We relocated from California and we enjoy the “southern hospitality” and much less traffic in San Antonio, Texas.

The Oak Hollow Park neighborhood does have a 6 foot high brick wall along the main streets but is not a gated community.

Oak Hollow Park does not have any mandatory HOA rules.

Oak Hollow Park was constructed by the builder “Sitterle Homes” in the fall of 1981.

Oak Hollow park consists of 296 homes, featuring mature majestic oak trees. Our family neighborhood features mid-sized homes, that are reasonably priced.

Our neighborhood is adjacent to the intersection of Thousand Oaks and Jones Maltsberger.

Oak Hollow Park is located about 5 miles north of the San Antonio International Airport.

If you are relocating and are looking for a peaceful family neighbood in San Antonio, I bet you’ll love living in Oak Hollow Park as much as we do.

Neighbors showed up for coffee and donuts with grownups. Plenty of interesting conversations.

Unfortunately, some people left before I remembered to take any pictures.

My daughter Malena baked some cookies and helped me host this event.

We had a few tables around the room, but it seemed like everyone just kept squeezing in with more chairs around the large dining table.

Neighbors brought more cookies and donuts, and I had plenty of coffee brewing.

Many of the neighbors knew each other but it seemed like everyone had a lot of catching up to do. Many neighbors hadn’t talked much since covid started.

Humorous

Some conversations were pretty funny. I noticed plenty of smiles.

Some neighbors talked about being the original homeowner of their home.

Many have lived in Oak Hollow Park over 30 years.

Everyone agreed that they were comfortable residing in Oak Hollow Park.

Cornhole Board Game

After about an hour of conversation I remember asking the neighbors present if they wanted to toss some beanbags.

They did. And next thing I knew, we had some “ringers” in the house.

In no time at all, the females were consistently tossing the beanbags through the hole-in-the-board like pros.

I didn’t fare so well.

But Walter, after a few practice tosses, was sinking the beanbags just like the ladies. Again, I still didn’t fare so well.

We had fun. We did not decide when we will get together again, but everyone agreed they want to meet again.

I want to especially thank Alicia Pena for all her work helping organize this event.
