A man and a woman, both married but strangers to each other, were stuck in the same sleeping cabin on a transcontinental train. At first, they felt super awkward—he took the left bunk, she took the right.

By 1:00 AM, neither could sleep, but neither wanted to be the first to admit it. Finally, the man broke the silence: “I’m sorry to bother you, but could you grab me an extra blanket from the closet? I’m freezing.”

The woman thought for a second, then grinned and said, “I’ve got a better idea. For tonight, let’s pretend we’re married.”

He perked up, curious, “That sounds great!”

She smiled sweetly and said, “Good. Get your own damn blanket.”

There was a long pause. The man sighed, ok and let out a fart, and resigned himself to the fact that sometimes, it’s just easier to shut up and try to sleep.
