An elderly man decided it was time to turn the page and embrace a new chapter in life, so he packed his belongings and moved into a retirement home.
On his first day, as he unpacked in his cozy new room, he noticed a woman across the hall staring at him intently. Her unflinching gaze felt a bit odd, but he shrugged it off, assuming she was just curious about the new arrival.
That evening, he headed to the cafeteria for dinner. As he settled into his seat and began eating, he noticed the same woman seated at the table next to him. Strangely, she had no food in front of her—she was just sitting there, staring at him again.
Feeling uneasy, he chose to ignore her and focus on his meal. After dinner, he decided to join the nightly bingo game in the lounge, hoping to relax. But to his dismay, there she was again, sitting in the corner, her eyes locked on him.
Unable to take it any longer, he approached her. “Excuse me, ma’am,” he said as politely as he could, “I’ve noticed you’ve been staring at me since I arrived. It’s making me a bit uncomfortable. Could you please stop?”
The woman looked up at him with a gentle expression and said, “Oh, I’m so sorry! It’s just… you remind me so much of my third husband!”
Taken aback, the man softened his tone. “I see. I’m sorry for snapping. If you don’t mind me asking, how many husbands have you had?”
With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, she replied, “Two.”
