According to recent updates from the Bexar Appraisal District, homeowners who successfully protest their property valuation in 2025 will not see an increase in their property value for the following year unless they make significant improvements to their property, meaning their appraised value will remain the same in 2026 barring any changes to the property itself; this is a new policy aimed at reducing the need for repeated protests each year.

Must Prove Homestead
Effective September 1, 2023, the Texas 88th legislature enacted Texas Property Tax Code 11.43(h-1), requiring appraisal districts to review each residential property with a Homestead Exemption every 5 years to confirm that the property still qualifies for the exemption.
The first set of Homestead Audit Verifications have been placed in the mail, with additional verification letters being mailed in phases over the next 5 years.
