The heart and soul are the volunteers that organize and do what needs to be done!

If the OHPNA Board votes to approve adding a “Founder’s Day Celebration Party” to the OHPNA 2024 Calendar,
We will need neighbor volunteers to help organize and help make this event successful.
Off the time of my head, we will need volunteers to (in addition to OHPNA board members):
  • to become part of the party “Organizing & Planning Committee
    • choose one neighbor to lead & schedule meetings
    • choose party location
    • get permission from affected homeowners
    • get permission to use electricity
    • get permission to tie up that street area from 8am to 5pm
    • get permission to set up BBQ grill if needed
  • to be part of the “Welcome Committee” to receive and assign on party day
    • setup Welcome table for 2 or more volunteers
    • assign volunteer duties on party day
    • welcome & sign in all neighbors
    • provide name tags for all neighbors
    • receive food dishes
    • receive raffle prizes
    • collect food from neighbors & put on tables for lunch
  • maybe a couple volunteer drivers, that will be on call to transport neighbors to and from …
    • the “perk” would be reserved parking spaces, to easily get in & out.
    • some older or disabled neighbors may benefit from the transportation
  • volunteers to talk to businesses to donate Raffle gifts
  • volunteers to design & print party invite information flyers
  • volunteers to pass out party invite information flyers door-to-door
  • volunteers to create selfie frames for the photo booth
  • volunteer to buy eggs & lemons & bring to the contests
  • volunteers to buy meats to grill & work the grill
  • volunteer to schedule Bouncy House & choose location
  • volunteers to be “early risers” to set up tables, chairs, etc. at 8am party day
  • volunteers to judge contests
  • volunteer to sell Raffle tickets
  • volunteers to use microphone announcing incoming neighbors & contests
  • volunteer to create Mingo Bingo cards
  • volunteer to create Scavenger cards & setup clues
  • volunteer to buy (bring) large jar with candies for “guessing game.”
  • volunteer to bring Tables & chairs
  • volunteer to bring trash & recycle bins with trash bags
  • volunteer to bring coffee, water & snacks for “early riser volunteers”
  • volunteers to organize lunch lines & organize food placement

Just thinking Out Loud … Once a Planning Committee is assembled …

Do you think we can find a restaurant like Pizza Hut, where we can schedule regular meetings on Saturdays?
I am thinking we can use a laptop connection, and invite committee members that cannot meet in the restaurant
to communicate via “zoom meeting.” Not a recorded meeting, as we will be “brainstorming ideas” initially.
It might be hard to fit a couple dozen people in a restaurant for a meeting. Just wondering what you thought.
